Excitera Mobile Award '04

Excitera Mobile Award is a programming contest where students create utility applications or games for mobile phones. The programming language is Java 2 Micro Edition and the first prize in the contest was 20 000 SEK as well as a Sony Ericsson P900. The ten best entries were awarded cash prizes, and other prizes. During the spring of 2004 the organizing committee arranged numerous events at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in order to motivate and facilitate a good outcome of the contest.

The aim of the competition Excitera Mobile Award is to promote and stimulate the development of mobile applications, but also to encourage students to become more business-minded and creative. Applications in the competition are judged both from their potential for commercial success and their technical value. By arranging lectures, seminars and workshops throughout the competition period the contest supports the successful development of applications and games for mobile phones.

Excitera Mobile Award '05

In January of 2005 Excitera Mobile Award returns for a second contest run. This page covers the competition of 2004, check back for more info on the upcoming contest!

The Competition

The two competition categories, utility applications and games, ran in parallel. The programming language is Java 2 Micro Edition and the competitors will submit entries in two steps. The first submission was the 29th of February 2004 and was for short description of the idea behind the application or the game, as well as which mobile telephone the application was to run on. The final submission was in April 2004 when a jury of KTH representatives, partner company representatives and other experts in the area judgee the contributions. It is also important to point out that all Excitera representatives and jury members are bound by non-disclosure agreement to protect the students behind the competition entries.
